This book is primarily a photo album containing photos of gnomes. There are a couple of pages of information (and that is where I nicked the Jean Yves Jouannais quote from) but after that is is all pictures. Some from the gnome reserve in Devon, most from private collections in the UK and Sweden. The photographs are good but some of the gnomes are fairly average. I have some sympathy for the attempt. Having visited most of the finest gnome collections in the country I can say it is almost impossible to take a photograph that does any of them justice. In the book there are quite a lot of closeups of individual gnomes not all of which (in my view) are sufficiently detailed or well made enough to warrant it.
